M85049/38 vs M85049/52: Choosing the Right Strain Relief for D38999, 26482 and 5015 Connectors
Every M85049 slash sheet is written for a specific set of connector families. Pick the wrong one and the threads will not engage. Here is the map.
D38999 Series III and IV: M85049/38 and /39
The /38 is straight, the /39 is 90 degree. Dash numbers 9 through 25 equal the connector shell size (9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25). Both use a saddle clamp with two screws. A D38999/26WD35PN (shell size 15) takes M85049/38-15W straight or M85049/39-15W 90 degree.
MIL-DTL-26482 Series 2 and 83723 Series III: M85049/49
Dash numbers 8 through 24 by shell size. The /49-2 variant is the saddle-clamp style we stock in the deepest quantities.
MIL-DTL-5015 and 26482 Series 1: M85049/51 and /52
/51 straight, /52 90 degree, sized 8 to 40 for 5015 and 8 to 24 for 26482 Series 1. For the classic MS3100-series 5015 connector, an MS3057 cable clamp with an MS3420 bushing is the traditional alternative.
