Series 1 versus Series 2
Series 1 (MS3110 to MS3128) uses solder-cup or front-release crimp contacts and is qualified to MIL-DTL-26482 Series I. Series 2 (MS3470 to MS3479, plus MS27476 to MS27484 in the older numbering) uses rear-release crimp contacts and a slightly longer shell, qualified to MIL-DTL-26482 Series II. The two series intermate: an MS3476 plug mates with an MS3112 receptacle of the same size and arrangement.
- MS3110 wall receptacle, MS3112 box receptacle, MS3114 jam-nut receptacle, MS3116 straight plug, MS3120 wall receptacle (crimp), MS3126 straight plug (crimp), MS3111 cable receptacle
- MS3470 wall receptacle, MS3471 cable receptacle, MS3474 jam-nut receptacle, MS3475 box receptacle, MS3476 straight plug, MS27476 (equivalent plug, older designation)
Part number example: MS3476W12-10P = Series 2 straight plug, class W (olive drab cadmium, environmental), shell size 12, insert arrangement 10, pin contacts. The letter after the basic number is the class and finish: W or L for environmental, F for firewall, A for general purpose.
Accessories for 26482

Frequently asked questions
Do MIL-DTL-26482 Series 1 and Series 2 connectors mate with each other?
Yes, when the shell size and insert arrangement match. The bayonet coupling and insert interface are common; the difference is the contact style (solder or front release in Series 1, rear-release crimp in Series 2).
Is MS27476 the same as MS3476?
Functionally yes. MS27476 is the earlier military drawing for the Series 2 straight plug; MS3476 superseded it. Both are rear-release crimp plugs and intermate.
What contacts do MS3476 connectors take?
Rear-release crimp contacts M39029/4 (pin) and M39029/5 (socket) in size 20, 16 or 12 depending on the insert arrangement.
Which cover fits an MS3116 plug?
MS3181 in the matching shell size, for example MS3181-16CA for a size 16 plug. MS3180 fits receptacles.
Which strain relief fits an MS3470 receptacle or MS3476 plug?
M85049/49-2 straight or M85049/52 90 degree, dash number equal to the shell size.
