Series I (MS27466 to MS27473) and Series II (MS27484 to MS27515) are still flying on thousands of legacy aircraft and are still specified for repair. Series I part numbers
- MS27466: wall-mount receptacle
- MS27467: straight plug

- MS27473: wall-mount receptacle (crimp, the current design)
- MS27474: jam-nut receptacle (crimp)
Example: MS27467T21B35P = Series I straight plug, T (crimp rear-release contacts, environmental), shell size 21, class B (olive drab cadmium), insert arrangement 35 (79 size-22D contacts), pin contacts. Series I inserts are the same arrangements used by D38999 Series III, which is why an MS27467T21B35P and a D38999/26WJ35PN carry the same 79 contacts.
Series II part numbers
Series II is the low-profile bayonet version with a shorter shell for tight installations. MS27484 is the straight plug, MS27497 the wall receptacle, MS27508 the box receptacle. Covers are MS27510 (plug) and MS27511 (receptacle).
Series I versus D38999 Series III
Series III replaced the bayonet with a triple-start thread, added a full EMI ground spring and raised environmental performance. The insert arrangements are shared, so if you are upgrading a design you can map MS27467T-B-35 to D38999/26W-35 size for size. Is MS27467 the same as D38999/26?
No. MS27467 is a MIL-DTL-38999 Series I bayonet plug; D38999/26 is a Series III threaded plug. They share insert arrangements but do not mate with each other.
What does the T in MS27467T mean?
T is the crimp rear-release contact style with environmental sealing, the standard Series I class. E designates the older solder version.
Which cover fits an MS27467 plug?
MS27501 in the matching shell size and finish, for example MS27501B21CN. MS27502 fits the MS27466, MS27472 and MS27473 receptacles.
Which backshell fits Series I?
MS27506 strain reliefs, or the M85049 slash sheets that list MIL-DTL-38999 Series I and II as a connector designator (M85049/38 and /39 do not; use M85049/49 or MS27506 by shell size).
