About MIL-DTL-38999 Series IV
MIL-DTL-38999 Series IV uses a quarter-turn breech-lock coupling instead of the Series III thread, for fast mating in confined spaces. Series IV shares the MIL-STD-1560 insert arrangements with Series III but does not intermate with it. The /42 sheet is the box-mount receptacle with a low-profile rear for crimp contacts.
