About MIL-DTL-38999 Series III
D38999/32 (plug) and D38999/33 (receptacle) covers protect unmated Series III connectors from moisture, dust and handling damage during shipping, storage and maintenance. They thread onto the standard Series III coupling, seal against the interface, and are retained by a wire rope so they are not lost in service. Match the cover finish to the connector class (W for cadmium, N for nickel).
